Now, don’t get me started on adult phone addicts!

NEW!! 2027 Wall Calendar – BORED MOBILE PHONE ADDICTS IN BRITISH PUBS. “We are all prisoners of our own device” The Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’. The lyrics in this classic rock song implies that we create our own limiting mental, social, or material prisons. At the time nobody realised how prophetic these words were and how they would actually come to pass. The mobile phone: I’ve always stated, they are either the best invention in the world or the worst. When it comes to these devices of devilish devotion, we are all addicts to a certain degree. Some addicts are obviously more addicted than others to these incarcerating cells. Case in point: young people. It has to be said that a whole generation of youngsters are currently losing a childhood that they can never, ever retain. Imprisoned by the inward cellular network and not experiencing a much more rewarding adventurous, real outside world. Not forgetting the dangers our adolescents face when tempted toward their clandestine cells. Now, don’t get me started on adult addicts! What a sad sight when we see a group of grown people sitting at a restaurant/pub table, all drawn then captivated by their cell phone devices. What happened to engaging conversation? Once it was fun to hear an amusing anecdote, witty remarks, and humorous jokes around the pub table. Where did interesting local pub discussions on politics, celebrities, sport, world affairs, even local gossip disappear to? We all know where! Our noses are now buried and bathed in that tiny glow of light emanating from that devilish device – the mobile phone.
