Not that long ago, were men really that sexist? That chauvinistic? That misogynistic? Did attractive women follow men everywhere if men just blew smoke in their face? Were all our GP's on a 24 hour call out after only a few winks and a few puffs of a camel? Do we really still give our children REAL GUNS? Was a new born baby tightly wrapped in cellophane depicted in a not so old ad? Was mother really given a fully loaded Colt revolver for Christmas? Not only did father Christmas come down the chimney but he also smoked like a chimney. Yes, all this and more is to be found in the shocking and strange world of not-so-long-ago advertisements. Thank heaven this is all in the past and we can now ridicule and poke fun at the irony of it all.
